I started teaching drums in 1999. I teach rock, reggae, jazz, blues, rap, or whichever style(s) my student desires. Since 1982, I have played drums in several bands, played on stage, have done recordings, etc. Below are some of the bands I have played with:
-Mazizi (Rock/African/Reggae mix, Santa Barbara, CA).
-The Sleepwalkers (Alternative Rock, Santa Barbara, CA).
-Peanut Heat (Rock/Pop, Santa Barbara, CA).
-and many more
Since 1982, I have taken private drum set lessons with various teachers.
I graduated from The College of Creative Studies (at UC Santa Barbara) with a Bachelors degree in Music Composition.
Recently, while living in Brazil, I studied a variety of drum rhythms and music styles.
When teaching, I use books such as Stick Control, A Funky Primer, and Advanced Funk Studies.
