Anthony Parker has been playing guitar for 24 years and teaching full time, specializing in children, for over a decade. In addition to teaching after-school guitar classes at four San Rafael elementary after school programs (groups of 8 to 12 kids), he teaches both private and small group lessons available to all.
Anthony provides his students with a guitar on loan (until they are committed enough to purchase one), as well as a copy of the most recent edition of his self-published guitar instruction book. His fun personality and patience make him an ideal teacher for you or your child, not to mention the fact that he gets great results from all of his students.
In your child’s guitar lessons, they will learn –
Chords and strumming techniques used in pop/rock music, by learning songs by the Beatles, Train, Green day, Taylor Swift, and more.
Acoustic AND Electric guitar styles, depending on their specific musical desires.
Lead guitar techniques including popular rock scales and melodies by Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Chuck Berry, and more.
Improvisational lead playing using blues and rock as a learning tool.
Songwriting techniques
AND - for students who want to sing, he will help you learn to sing while you play!
Many teachers struggle teaching absolute beginners, but Anthony’s wealth of experience teaching not only beginners, but children as young as 6 years old has prepared him for nearly any issue that may arise with your child’s learning process. That said, He can also help intermediate and advanced players get to that next level.
