Micro Cube-W: Now Available in Cool White

Now you have a choice of three colors when it comes to the Micro Cube: Black, Red, or White. Is small beautiful? The Micro Cube Guitar Amplifier from Roland makes a strong argument for "Yes!" Small in this case means a portable amp (less than 7-1/2 lbs.) that makes few compromises, other than it won't clobber you over with sheer volume. It's a two-watt amp driving a five-inch speaker; it's loud, but it's not huge - - but when you run on batteries this thing plays for as long as 20 hours on six AA batteries. Try that with your Fender Twin. Roland thoughtfully includes an AC adapter, helping to minimize battery use.

A Model Citizen

Besides this, Roland has adapted the same winning effects/modeling interface from their incredibly popular Cube 30 guitar amp. It's pretty simple, yet you can cop just about any amp sound from just a few twistings of knobs. The top row of knobs consists of a Tone (eq) knob, an EFX knob that can select one variation from any of four mod effects (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser or Tremolo,) and a separately selectable Delay/Reverb knob that similarly lets you select from variations, but only allows one or the other function to be active at once. The second row of knobs accesses one of seven classic and modern amp models, starting with the Roland JC120 Jazz Chorus!" and progressing through Acoustic, Black Panel, Brit Combo, R-Fier screamin' stack, and a Mic position when you're using the Micro Cube to sing through, or as a mini-PA system. Gain and Volume knobs assure that you can dial up as much overdrive as you prefer, and a healthy complement of jacks assures that you'll make the necessary connections. The headphone/recording out jack provides a stereo mix on a 1/4" connector; line inputs can be accepted by the Micro Cube via both 1/4" and 1/8" stereo jacks. An AC adaptor and carrying strap come with the Micro Amp. The new Digital Tuning Fork function kicks out a reference tone; the harder you hit the tuning fork button, the louder the tone is. The reference signal is adjustable up to two semintones flat. Batteries not included.
