Outstanding Compact Audio Tools from PreSonus Presonus makes some great, compact, affordable, high-performance audio boxes. They are packaged in a case that fits three-up in universal rack trays, with cast aluminum sides and a brushed aluminum face for exceptional ruggedness. All three units have XLR balanced and 1/4" unbalanced ins and outs. Their noise floor is way down at -98dB, with a S/N ratio greater than 95dB. The TubePRE is a full-featured mic pre with a 12AX7 vacuum tube, Tube Drive and Gain controls plus buttons for a -20dB pad, Phase (polarity) Reverse, +48V Phantom Power and an 80Hz Rumble (Low-Cut) filter. A blue backlit VU meter offers a clear display of levels. EQ3B provides three fully parametric, overlapping EQ bands plus ±12dB variable Gain, and Bypass and 80Hz Rumble Filter switches. 'Q' is adjustable from ultra narrow to quite broad, and frequency is sweepable for each band. Clean, quiet and very effective equalization, for peanuts. Comp16 is based on the award-winning PreSonus BlueMax. It does your compression thinking for you, with 16 presets that adjust attack, release, ratio, threshold and knee — just select from vocal, percussion, fretted, keyboard, stereo, and effects categories. Then adjust input and output levels while watching the backlit VU meter (it also shows gain reduction.) The HP4 is a four-out headphone amp with provision to control studio monitors as well. It's endowed with 250mW of power per output, plenty to drive any type of headphone to high levels. A noise floor of -98dB and flat frequency response assure that you'll hear the intended signal and not some garbage or hiss. A Mono selector puts the same input in both sides. Balanced and unbalanced inputs (1/4") are provided. A pair of TRS outputs does double duty; use it to link multiple HP4's together, or connect your monitors and use the Mute and Volume controls on them. This makes switching between overdubbing through phones and listening through speakers especially convenient. |
