The BASS V-AMP PRO takes the core of the non-rack version and adds quite a few useful extras. 32 amp models cover 16 classic bass amps, eight V-AMP amp models, four keyboard amps and four acoustic amp models. These can be freely combined with any of the 23 speaker cabinet simulations which range from 1X8" through 8X10" to 18" monsters (download the patch list and you can see which amps and speaker configurations are emulated.) You can shape, fatten and sweeten your sound with versatile EQ. What looks like three-band EQ is actually quite a bit more; the Bass control becomes a Deep control when tapped; the Mid band offers adjustable frequency when used with the TAP control, or turns into a Shape control for amp models that lack a midrange band. Treble becomes Presence if you so desire. The sixteen effects can be used with or without amp simulation, and include Ultrabass, 3-voice Synth, delay/loop Sampler (over 1,000 milliseconds,) Chorus, Flanger, Rotary Speaker, Voice Box, Wah Wah and combination patches. Throw in some edge thanks to four emulated distortion and overdrive stomp boxes; these can be fine tuned with Drive, Tone, Boost and Split functions. Compression and a Denoiser operate separately. When you use headphones, speaker simulation is automatically added. The Bass V-Amp Pro can be used in a biamplified set-up, which keeps effects out of the low end so that your bass signal remains solid.
The range of connectors is quite impressive. A 1/4" front panel input handles mono instrument sources. Around back you'll find balanced XLR ine outs with ground lift and optional speaker simulation; a pre-DSP send/return point that can also be used as a line out and line in point; analog unbalanced line outs on 1/4" jacks; a post-DSP stereo insert point (separate for left and right channels) that can also be used as a line output with FX; digital outs in both S/PDIF and AES/EBU formats, with a BNC word clock input; and MIDI connectors. Free software for PC allows editing of patches in an easy-to-control environment. You can download it here! Other goodies include an integral auto-chromatic tuner and a MIDI implementation that allows automation and remote control of all functions.
