The DDX is a maple laminate Grand Auditorium with a solid Sitka spruce top. Offered in black with a gloss finish, the DDX features Doyle’s Chet Atkins-style fretboard inlays, a stylized signature treatment emblazoned along the headstock, crisp white binding, a 25-1/2-inch scale length (compared to the DDSM’s short-scale 24-7/8 inches), and a narrower 1-11/16-inch neck. The guitar comes performance-ready with Taylor’s under-saddle ES-T® pickup.
Built to meet the fingerstyle legend’s exact specifications, the Doyle Dykes Signature Model features a modified Grand Auditorium body (a half-inch shallower than a standard GA) with figured maple back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. Other distinctions include a shorter scale length (24-7/8”), “Chet”-style fretboard markers, a Florentine cutaway, a pearl/abalone white rose peghead inlay, and an abalone-trimmed top. Color options include natural, opaque black, translucent black, orange and brown sugar. The guitar is available either with the Taylor Expression System® or the L.R. Baggs Doyle Dykes Signature System pickup.
