As a vocal mic, the SR69 is spectacular. It accurately captures voice at 6 inches with a bit more bass warmth available if you move closer. It has no presence at peak, only natural, easy to use, on-axis pick up, and uncolored off-axis rejection. It has low handling noise and is well protectted from popping of P's. As with other Earthworks mics, you will find that you need less EQ because it sounds great just as it is.
Removing the windscreen assembly reveals its alternate persona. The SR69 effortlessly captures a wide range of real acoustic sources, like choir, guitar, banjo, accordion, horns, and flute, but most especially drums and other percussion. The SR69 is a powerful tool for communication. IT is superb for applications involving spoken word. Its open pick up patter is bery forgiving.
