| Guitar Combo Amps combine a power amplification section with speaker(s) into a single amp enclosure. Many Guitar Combo Amps also include effects and tone modeling in the signal path and some sort of foot pedal interface to switch guitar channels and/or effects.
The amplification sections are usually designated as analog (tube amplified) or digital (solid state amplification). Tube amplification generally produces a warmer and fuller sound than solid state amplification, although now with advanced solid state amp modeling, its sometimes hard to tell them apart. Some guitar combo amplifiers are hybrid analog/solid state (They combine tube preamps with solid state power amplification) The speakers of guitar combo amps are usually 6 inches to 12 inches each, with either one or two speakers. Larger speakers output more volume, and have a punchier bass range. "2x12" means two 12 inch speakers.
